In the 1656 plague burst to Naples it made various victims also to Mass. Better times arrived with the borbonica domination diffusing business activities and artisan that were carried out mostly via sea. The commerce with Naples was so intense that an entire rione near the berthing wharf was called “Porta di Massa”.
The inhabitants of Mass participated always actively to the political life not only of their country but also of Naples participating to the birth of the Partenopea Republic; in 1808 Gioacchino Murat directed Mass the military operations against English who occupied Capri.
Hard times as a result of the first world war and then to the second one with the expatriation of the inhabitants appeared newly towards the Americas, New Zeland and the Germany.
The opening of hollow of stones (the more important those than Vital and of Ieranto, today both disattivate) attracted immigration of coming workers from the Sardinia, than they joined in the social context.
The last decades have seen an increasing development in the agricultural field and those tourist thanks also to an increment of the marine transports that allow faster movements.

The church of S. Maria of Thanks reconstructed in century XVIII to its inside boasts a splendid maiolicato pavement. Beside the church the episcopal palace rises, also settecentesco it.
It marinades of the Lobra on the coast is a graceful village of fishermen, on which the sanctuary of S appears. Maria of the Lobra, corruption of the term delubrum, temple, been born on the rests of a roman temple dedicated perhaps to Minerva.
