Itineraries: Monte Faito
|
The Faito mount is high 1131 meters and is one of the highest tops of the Lattari mounts, it constitutes the ridge of the peninsula sorrentina and is formed by mostly limestone cliffs. Its name derives from the dialectal term faggeto as of beechs, as well as of holmoaks and chestnut trees.
The Faito mount can be reached by the cableway from Castellamare di Stabia, or by car from Vico Equense. The zone offers various amusing places thanks to an equipped sport complex of tennis, basket/volleyball fields and swimming pool.
On the top of the mountain the church of Saint Michele rises, whose name derives from an apparition of the Michele Archangel on the close Mount Molare (1,444 meters).
In last the three weekend of October the traditional Festival of the Chestnut holds.
