Itineraries: Castellammare di Stabia

A castle was built to defend the city during the Middle age, modified in XIII and the 14th century, like a guardian of Castellamare di Stabia, citizen located on a wide bay of important shipyards, inaugurated from Ferdinand IV di Borbone.
The Borbone contributed to the rebirth of the place with a series of initiatives turned to the tourist development legacy to the spa treatments, increased from Ferdinand IV in the 700. Diggings begun in ` the 700 in order to light bring back the roman takeover of Stabiae, destroyed from the eruption of the 79 d. C. and the creation of a crystal factory from Carlo III.
The archaeological site of the ancient Stabiae dominates from the hill of Varano where there are two villas of roman age: Arianne and Saint Marcus, with testimonies of frescoes and thermal.
In order to enjoy a wonderful panorama the Faito mount must be reached by a funivia or by car, it is high 1278 meters.
